A Samurai Kozuka 17th/18th century (Edo period) , or a sheath for a knife as part of the samurai sword. It is made of brass/copper. Blackened at the top with gold, copper and silver details. A Dutch doctor is depicted wearing clothing from around 1700. Dutch doctors were highly respected in Japan from the 17th to the 19th century. The Dutch doctor is recognizable by the flower and herb basket.
It is not signed, but that is normal because the maker's signature is almost always on the handle or blade of the knife.
It is in perfect condition without damage.
