Dekoracyjny zestaw vintage – dwa mosiężne wieszaki neobarokowe i modernistyczny termometr ścienny - Coat rack - Brass, Glass
The subject of the auction is an interesting set of three decorative interior fittings, consisting of a pair of old, hefty wall hooks made of solid brass and an original vintage wall thermometer in the Mid-Century Modern style. The set presents an impressive blend of historical artisanal craft with European modernist design from the mid-20th century. Varied forms, noble metal coloring, and natural patina give the whole ensemble a unique character.
The two identical brass hooks represent a design inspired by neobaroque and traditional European furniture hardware from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. Date approx. 20th century, most likely its first half, though a later production according to historic patterns cannot be ruled out. European origin, perhaps Central Europe. Each hook was cast as a single, heavy piece with a long, gracefully curved arm ending with a rounded head and two additional, symmetrically placed hooks. The lower part is adorned with a rich floral relief featuring stylized leaves, volutes, and ornaments characteristic of historicizing metal works. Signs of casting work and natural patina are visible. Each hook has two mounting holes. Dimensions of a single hook: height 15 cm, width 6. 5 cm, depth 8 cm.
The central element of the composition is an original vintage wall thermometer, most likely from Germany (FRG) , dated approximately to the 1950s–1960s. It is an interesting example of postwar modernist design, notable for its organic, asymmetrical form reminiscent of a stylized leaf or sail. The metal frame has an eye-catching edge in antique gold color and a greenish-blue decorative surface with a characteristic fine crackle texture. The centrally placed glass liquid thermometer is set on a silvery metal scale with a Celsius scale from -10 to +50°C. On the back there is a metal hanger for mounting. Thermometer dimensions: height 12 cm, width 5 cm, thickness 0. 6 cm. Manufacturer unknown, no verified signature.
Condition of the entire set: good vintage, in line with age and photographic documentation. The brass hooks show natural signs of use, minor scratches, discolorations, and local surface unevenness. They have not been cleaned or polished, preserving authentic patina. The thermometer shows minor abrasions, discolorations, and signs of aging of metal components. The glass tube is intact, but there may be a separation of the liquid column, so measurement accuracy is not guaranteed. The tube is mounted on two wire supports and shows a slight looseness corresponding to its previous mounting method. Thermometer preserved in its original, uncleaned state.
The set forms a decorative wall composition, combining neobaroque ornamentation with the modernist aesthetics of the 1950s and 1960s. It is ideal as an accessory for a hallway, wardrobe, study, or a vintage, retro, or eclectic styled interior. The items originate from different stylistic traditions and are offered together as a decorative set, not as a factory-completed pair.
I do not ship to the USA, or to countries with customs duties (ships from Poland - I do not ship to: United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, China, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Serbia, Ukraine, Liechtenstein) or to Middle Eastern conflict zones.
