Anonymous work, answer to a treatise by Abbé L. de Bonnaire. Deals with the conversion of the Jews and in which two treatises are refuted, one on the end of the world and the other on the return of the Jews.
The first half of the 18th century in France was shaped by the Protestant Church, which was still forbidden, the resurgence of the Jansenites after the Papal Bull Unigenitus in 1713, and the prophecy of the return of the prophet Elijah. Canon Jourdan predicted the return of the Jews in 1748. These works deal with eschatology and eschatology and eschatological conversion of the Jews (Rom. 9-11). Numerous treatises and counter-tracts were written. Influential authors were l’Abbé d’Etémare. The mission to the Jews was also an issue in Germany, as it was one of the main concerns of Pietism. Many authors contributed to the topic, nota bene Philipp Jacob Spener (Pia desideria, 1675, Rom 11.25), Fr. Chr. Oetinger, and later Franz Delitzsch. (see also Lot No. 80 Hebrew NT).
