Diana. Late 18th c Drawing, red chalk (sanguine), 34 x 21,5 cm, laid paper with German watermark of 1770 (Churchill no. 317), unsigned (tiny black spots near centre right). Under passe-partout. Seated figure in an antique setting. The attributes such as a bow and spear allow for an interpretation as Diana, goddess of hunting. Given the apple in her right hand, she may also be Athena holding the Apple of Discord. Very well-executed.
