Diane Arbus (American, 1923-1971), "Untitled #4", 1970-71, gelatin silver print, printed later by Neil Selkirk. This photograph captures four children in a landscape, each adorned with costumes and paper bag-like masks. Part of an edition of 75, the image size measures approximately 12 7/8" x 12 7/8", with a sight size of appx 13 3/8" x 13 3/8", and a sheet size specified per invoice as 20" x 16". The framed dimensions are appx 24 1/8" x 20 1/4". The verso features an estate stamp in ink and is signed by Doon Arbus, Executor of the Diane Arbus Estate, with printing by Neil Selkirk. Included with this lot is a printed photocopy from Fraenkel Gallery, San Francisco, dated February 7th, 2004, and signed by the associate director. Created for John A. Williams for insurance purposes. This item originates from the estate of John A. Williams, a distinguished philanthropist and renowned collector. Mr. Williams and his partner Dewitt Hart were influential members of San Francisco's art society and were celebrated for their discerning taste in modern, ethnographic, and fine art. Over the years, they hosted numerous exhibitions in their home, showcasing their prestigious collection to appreciative audiences. All proceeds of items from this estate benefit the Hart Williams Rainbow Fund, a nonprofit working with the LGBTQIA+ community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
