Dick van Hoff - Thomas Eyck - Leather Firewood Bag - t.e 137

[ translate ]

The Leather Firewood Bag by Dick van Hoff combines beauty with functionality. The base compartment is made of 2 mm hot-dip galvanised steel and it has leather legs to prevent scratches on the floor. The leather hearth bag itself can be separated from this base compartment so you can collect the wood needed for the day. All parts which carry a heavy load are fitted with sewn in metal rods, so that the bag will still look good even after a few years. The leather is from Sweden, it was tanned in Belgium and processed manually at Buffel in Terheijden, the Netherlands. Dick van Hoff has produced a steady flow of excellently made items, both for his own studio and for other companies, including Droog, Rosenthal and Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum. Through his own work and as a teacher at the Design Academy Eindhoven, Dick van Hoff has played an important role in forming the future of a post-Droog Dutch School for design thinking. His work is part of the permanent collection of Boymans van Beuningen Rotterdam and Fond National d'Art Contemporaine, Paris and Centraal Museum Utrecht, among others.
