Mr Charles Dickens presents his compliments to Mr Hammond, and begs to say that his occupations oblige him at present to forego all such public engagements as that which Mr Hammond proposes to him Ex-John Wilson, Cheltenham, Antiquarian Booksellers Association; accompanied by seller's slip with following footnote: See The Letters of Charles Dickens, Vol 9, page 51, to which is linked a note: 'No doubt a charitable reading'.
