Dickens, Old Curiosity Shop 1854, 100+ illustrations, Peterson Ed.

"The Old Curiosity Shop" by Charles Dickens ('Boz'), published by T.B. Peterson & Brothers, 102 Chestnut Street Philadelphia, with an additional engraved title page, ninety illustrations by George Cattermole and Hablot K. Browne [Phiz], re-engraved for the American Edition by George Gilbert, the frontispiece and eight extra plates by Thomas Sibson re-engraved for the American Edition by Joseph Yeager. Petersons' Uniform Edition of Dickens's Works, undated 1854 printing. [Cf. Gimbel D25].

Note:
The final Dickens' title listed on the title page is the "Bleak House" first published in London in 1852. The "Hard Times" (London, 1854) is not listed by Peterson.T.B. Peterson Publishing Company moved to the 102 Chestnut Street in 1854. The company relocated to the 306 Chestnut Street in 1858.

Hard boards, original brown cloth with embossed blind decorations and gold lettering on spine [a little wear and soiling]; 6" x 9"; yellow colored endpapers, two inscriptions of the former owners on the front endpaper ['W.D. Newton Xmas 1857' and pencil written 'Ruth Peterson]; frontispiece and additional engraved title page, 362 pages with 90 text illustrations + 8 plates with Sibson illustrations, a little foxing and soiling, good++/ very good condition.

Note:
From the 10 listed plates 9 are present. The frontispiece is the Simpson plate listed at the page 76. The plate listed as the frontispiece is located at the page 72. The last listed plate titled "the termination of The Curiosity Shop, and opening of Barnaby Rudge" is missing- it probably went to the "Barnaby Rudge" volume.
