Dietz Model 30 Beacon Light Railroad Inspectors Lantern
American. Early 1900s. Metal, glass. The Dietz Model 30 was used by RR inspectors as they were designed to produce more light than a standard lamp. Patent dates show 1897 and 1898; however, these are the only dates the patents were issued. The lanterns were manufactured post-patent dates. Marked, "Dietz No. 30 Beacon Light New York U.S.A.", on lower center of the reflector. 14.5" x 11.75" x 8".
