Diopside Jungaluk, Sar-e-Sang, Kuran wa Munjan District, Badakhshan, Afghanistan 6.8 × 5.8 × 5.1 cm (2.68 × 2.28 × 2.01 in) This specimen features a large cluster of Diopside crystals perched on a contrasting marble matrix. The Diopside crystals are glassy with sharply defined, reflective crystal faces and a rich dark green color, with the largest crystal measuring 3.5 centimeters in length. Strong luster and crisp crystal form give the cluster an eye-catching appearance from multiple angles. Under shortwave UV light, the marble matrix fluoresces a soft pink, providing an additional point of interest. From the collection of John Warn [AFG2020a].
