[ translate ]

Disneyland – Pair of Haunted Mansion "The Black Prince" Changing Portrait Brownlines by Marc Davis (Walt Disney, 1964). In Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color "Disneyland Tencennial Special," Marc Davis disclosed, "We’re doing a lot of portraits that change before your very eyes." This pair of brownline prints depict the transformation of a rider and his horse, as originally interpreted by artist Marc Davis for the Haunted Mansion Portrait Hallway. Davis incorporated many historic figures into his early designs, such as this vision of Sir Edward of Woodstock who was made infamous from his role in the 100 Years War. Marc would occasionally make brownlines of his pencils to test color combinations and he embellished one of these prints with paint. Marc’s timeless interpretation of the Black Prince has transcended the realms of Disney Parks, galloping his way into show scenes that appeared in the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. Measuring 14.25" x 17", these brownline sheets are in Very Good condition exhibiting minor creases and wear. From the Disney Legend Inductees Marc and Alice Davis Archive.
