The Disney Store – Bad Pete Store-Displayed Character Prop (Walt Disney, c. 1990s-2000s). " No one—and I do mean no one—messes with the mighty Pete!" This is a rare Disney Store character display prop featuring the original Disney Villain, Pete. The tyrannical cigar-smoking cat made his debut in 1925, as part of Walt Disney's Alice Comedies. Created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, Pete is the oldest recurring Disney character and the first villain to be conceived by the studio. By his own admission, he was, "born to cheat and lie". This incredible figure is an actual store-displayed prop. The costume Pete is wearing was made specifically for this character prop at the Yale Costume Department. These store displays were never sold to the public and can be hard to find. The over-sized store props were popular with guests and served as the inspiration for the popular Disney Big Figs from the late 90s and early 2000s. As expected, this very rare store prop exhibits typical wear from its use and removal.
