"It's a Small World" Original Costume Design Model Sheet Prints by Alice Davis Group of 26 (Walt Disney, 1964). Disney Legend inductee Alice Davis (1929 – 2022) was an expert on fabric and costume design before she started working with Disney, but her knowledge and creativity really shone through in designs for the "It's a Small World" attraction at the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair. She began creating these designs in 1963 in collaboration with fellow Disney Legend Mary Blair (1911-1978), researching and designing over 150 costumes for the animatronics. This outstanding lot features 26 of Alice's personal model sheet prints! The charming, detailed drawings explore the attire of South America and Bolivia. Each page features extensive notes on the designs and materials, including some notes on where the wigs and hats were to be created. Some of the designs for this attraction were included on pages 222 and 223 book Marc Davis Imagineering in the Disney Theme Parks Volume 1 and those pages have been attached for reference. A few of the finished South American dolls are included on page 222. 24 out of 26 of the model sheets are full figure with the remaining two featuring additional Bolivian hat designs. The figures and smaller drawings range from about 9.5'' x 16.5'' to 1'' x 1.25'' on 14'' x 16.75'' brown paper. All pages include a WED Enterprises Inc. stamp. Very Good condition overall for these historic model sheet prints with light age-related toning, minor edge and handling wear, and an occasional small tear. From the Disney Legend Inductees Marc and Alice Davis Archive. HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
