Alice Estes Davis' Disney Legends Award (Walt Disney, 2004). This is the splendid Disney Legends Award bestowed upon the illustrious Walt Disney Imagineer Emeritus Alice Estes Davis, during the Disney Legends Class of 2004! Alice Davis first joined the Walt Disney Company in 1960, personally recruited by Walt to costume design for the Walt Disney Production of Toby Tyler. Alice soon joined WED Enterprises in 1962, assisting with the Audio-Animatronics costuming for It's a Small World and General Electric's Carousel of Progress for the 1964/1965 New York World's Fair. Alice's outstanding creations distinguished her among male contemporaries, and the Walt Disney Imagineer went on to design thematic costuming for Flight to The Moon and Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland (creating an impressive 47 costumes for the latter). Alice was notably influential in establishing an Audio-Animatronics Costuming division at WED Enterprises, an Imagineering tradition which embraces a system of techniques that assures the high standard of show quality expected of Disney Parks. After all, she enjoyed 18 years of service, in addition to post-retirement contributions as consultant on various projects with the Walt Disney Company. Ultimately, twenty-six years after her retirement, a life of imagination, skills, discipline, craftsmanship, and resultant "magical" contributions were recognized on a grand scale when she was inducted into the Disney Legends Hall of Fame on September 17, 2004. This is the remarkable Disney Legends Award that was ceremonially bestowed upon the honoree, Alice Estes Davis! The hand-crafted of bronze is based on original designs by Imagineer Andrea Favilli, and is inscribed with powerful iconography, depicting Mickey's skillful hand rising from the spiral of imagination to ignite a spark of Disney magic. At the time of this publishing, there have been a total of 304 Disney Legends named, rendering this unique trophy a rare prize for the avid collectors of "Disneyana" and historians of the Walt Disney Company. Additionally, this lot comes with the Disney Legends pin, Alice Davis' Disney Legends nametag, her personal photo album with 58 photos of the event, two programs form the award ceremony on September 17, 2004, a printed image of her plaque, a printed sign with her name, and a printed sheet from the event showing "Alice Davis Imagineering." Measuring 21.5" x 7.5" x 7.5", this esteemed Walt Disney Company artifact is in Very Good condition exhibiting minor wear from handling and age.
