Disneyland – "It's a Small World" Group of 16 Brown Line Model Sheets for Africa Section (Walt Disney, 1963-64). From the private collection of Disney Legends Marc and Alice Davis comes a remarkable group of 16 model sheets for the beloved "It's a Small World" attraction, originally conceived for the New York World's Fair before making its permanent home at Disneyland. Measuring 13.5" x 17", these brown line prints, derived from Marc Davis's original gag drawings, offer an unparalleled glimpse into the intricate design and interaction of the Audio-Animatronic children and animals featured within this iconic ride. Illustrating the ingenious mechanics behind the dancing children in South America and the gently moving hippo in Central Africa, these sheets reveal the creative genius of Disney Imagineering. Some of these model sheets appear in the book "Marc Davis in His Own Words Imagineering the Disney Theme Parks" on page 212. Alice Davis, in collaboration with Marc and another Disney Legend Mary Blair, played a pivotal role in bringing this attraction to life, with Alice overseeing the costume design for the 300+ Audio-Animatronics dolls representing cultures worldwide. This collection, showcasing the dolls in a harmonious celebration of global unity, is a testament to the collaborative spirit of Disney's early Imagineers. These model sheets, in Very Good condition with light edge wear, not only highlight the technical marvels behind the scenes but also celebrate the enduring legacy of "It's a Small World" as a symbol of international peace and unity.
