Overland Stagecoach Original 9 Passenger Coach with Wells Fargo Strongbox and Gear (c. 1870's). Offered in this lot is an original full-size, nine passenger Overland Stagecoach. It originally functioned as an actual working stagecoach, and it's last official run was from Tombstone, Arizona to Sacramento, California. It is being offered as an homage to the "Rainbow Mountain Stagecoach" ride which operated in Disneyland from 1955 to 1959. The rustic ride closed the same year that Disney introduced its futuristic conveyance, the Alweg Monorail. The coach was owned by a friend of Walt's and fellow Anaheim businessman, Ben Hathaway. This relic of the Old West dates to the 1870's, measures 8.5' tall, 14' 10" long, and weighs 2840 lbs. It comes complete with a Leather window and storage flaps, Wells Fargo strong box, wood trunk, wood cage, bolt for the tongue assembly, and two wood block/leather brake shoes. This authentic frontier stage harkens to Disneyland's early portrayal of America's past and the ultimate transition towards a vision for the future. The winning bidder of this remarkable piece of American history will instantly attain very exclusive bragging rights. The coach is in used condition and sold as-is with no warranty or promise of functionality implied. The stagecoach is located in Dallas, Texas, please contact Heritage Auctions for shipping inquires.
