Disneyland – "Pirates of the Caribbean" Flicker Flame Module (Walt Disney, c. 1960s). The lighting on the "Pirates of the Caribbean" attraction is famous for it's realistic flame movement and beautiful glow. This brilliant piece of technology was created by Disney Legend Yale Gracey (1910 – 1983), who also created many of the mind-blowing effects in "The Haunted Mansion". This lot features some of that circuitry with the Flicker Flame control model, used to adjust the flame strength and timing. The module was created by MAPO, a division of Walt Disney Productions that was created in the mid-1960s with a portion of the profits from the incredibly successful film Mary Poppins. Their logo and the module number, Muse-111480, is present in the center of the module. This incredible piece of technology measures about 7.25'' x 4'' x 1'' in a 7'' x 3.5'' x 3.75'' with a 10.5'' x .75'' x 5.75'' frame with wooden board and protective plastic. The controls include reset, defeat, rate, base, and dim knobs and the circuit board is removable. Good condition overall with minor handling wear, loose front board, and faint scuffing.
