Distressed Cream Painted Seven Drawer Lingerie Chest with Floral Decoration

A tall and narrow seven-drawer lingerie chest, also known as a semainier, decorated in a French Provincial revival style. The piece features a heavily distressed cream-painted finish with an all-over crackle glaze (craquelure) effect to simulate age. Each drawer front and the top surface are ornamented with hand-painted floral sprays including pink roses and yellow flowers, set within turquoise-blue borders with gilt-style edging. The construction consists of a composite wood or light-coloured hardwood frame. Each drawer is fitted with a single central antiqued brass-toned metal knob. The sides are finished in a plain distressed cream paint. The drawers are of standard modern construction and the unit stands on a solid base. No maker's marks, labels, or signatures are visible on the exterior of the item.
