Domaine Hubert Lignier, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, 1978...
Domaine Hubert Lignier, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, 1978 (1 x 750ml)
Region: Burgundy
Fill Level: excellent
Capsule: ok
Cork: ok
Label: excellent appearance
Packaging: original wooden case
Notes:
Clos de la Roche takes its name in part from its terroir, particularly rocky and calcareous, made up of large blocks and a shallow depth of soil. Paradoxically, however, it is not a clos. This Grand Cru traditionally produces powerful, textured wines with a very pronounced minerality. The Clos de la Roche of Domaine Hubert Lignier, from 2 parcels in Monts Luisants and Frémières, is distinguished by its density and complexity.
1978 is one of those "miracle vintages", often considered one of the best of the 20th century in Burgundy. After a harsh winter and a rainy spring, damp and cool conditions persist until the end of July. The vintage is saved by a reversal of fortune and optimal weather at the end of the season: from August to October, heat, sunshine and north winds keep the vines healthy. The harvest, very late, begins in early October. A great vintage for ageing, 1978 is distinguished by classic, balanced wines, endowed with a remarkable tannic structure and a fine acidity.
Domaine Hubert Lignier will be pleased to include the winning bidder in its annual allocation. This allocation will be managed and invoiced directly by Domaine Hubert Lignier, starting with the 2027 vintage.
