Notes:
Clos de la Roche takes its name in part from its terroir, which is particularly rocky and calcareous, consisting of large boulders and a shallow soil layer. Paradoxically, however, it is not a clos. This Grand Cru traditionally produces powerful, textured wines with a very pronounced minerality. The Clos de la Roche from Domaine Hubert Lignier, sourced from two parcels in Monts Luisants and Frémières, is distinguished by its density and complexity.

2000 was a vintage of abundance. Beginning with a mild winter, the season continued with a warm, dry spring. July, which was wet and cold, was saved by August, whose heat kept the vines healthy. With their elegant fruitiness, the 2000 wines are charming, supple, and pleasing.

The 2003 vintage is marked by the legendary heat wave with which it is associated. Beginning with a wet winter and a mild spring, the season was hit by severe frosts on April 11 and 12. An exceptionally hot and dry summer followed, resulting in particularly early harvests, beginning in mid-August. In the glass, the 2003 vintage yields full-bodied, expressive, and rich wines.

The year 2009 began with a warm spring and early flowering. July gives way to hot, dry, and very sunny weather starting in mid-August. A few well-timed showers at the end of the month accelerate ripening, which is complete by the first half of September. By the end of the harvest, the grapes will yield ripe, full-bodied, fruity, and supple wines.

Domaine Hubert Lignier will be pleased to include the winning bidder in its annual allocation. This allocation will be managed and invoiced directly by Domaine Hubert Lignier, beginning with the 2027 vintage.
