A translation of the 1835 original, which was described by Howes as the first significant book printed in California. "Written by Figueroa to expose the state of affairs in California and to place on record a history of his administration of the territory, and a defense of his acts and policies during the period from 1833-1835" (Greenwood). First edition in English of the "second and most important of the early books printed by the Spanish press of California" (Cowan II, p. 210). Greenwood 562. Streeter Sale 2784.
