Don Warren (1935-2006), Along the Pond, oil on canvas
Don Warren (1935-2006), Along the Pond, oil on canvas, 24 x 36", Original Melvin frame: 47.5 x 36.5"
Artist's statement: "Most of my works are bluebonnets. I knew both Porfirio Salinas and Robert Wood when he was in Texas. Robert Wood and I worked together in Violet Sigoloff's private studio in her home in San Antonio, Texas for about a week just a few months before Robert died. His daughter, Kitty Wood was my good friend, and she sold many of my paintings out of the Sigoloff Gallery there in San Antonio. I learned to paint Texas landscapes by careful observation of Salinas' paintings. I am self-taught, except for the few comments from Robert Wood when we painted together in Violet's studio."
Condition Report: Good; light grime at top left; craquelure at top right
