Donald Deskey (American, 1894-1989) Art Deco Sideboard Console, with large drawers in the Streamline Moderne taste, lacquered burlwood, designed by Deskey and manufactured by Schmieg, Hungate & Kotzian, Inc. in New York City, circa 1930s, with registration numbers and manufacturer's mark underneath the body of drawers. 39" H x 48" W x 19" D. Provenance: Property from a private collection at 853 7th Avenue. Note: Schmieg, Hungate, and Kotzian were used by Donald Deskey for all custom-made pieces. A similar piece was designed by Deskey for the apartment of Helena Rubinstein in 1934. Literature: David A.
