Partially printed document (to sight: 215 x 89 mm), on blue paper, dated 22 October 1883, and signed by Douglass; some toning to folds. Matted, framed, and glazed with an image of Douglass and brass plaque; not examined out of frame.

A land document signed by the great abolitionist and orator

Following the Civil War, Douglass served in various local and federal posts. For a time, he was Marshall of the District of Columbia and Recorder of Deeds for Washington, D.C. The present document records a transaction between Robert Fleming, John Hanna, and C. Bright Case.
