Doulton Burslem Vellum two handled vase and cover: Hand painted with panels of daisies by S Wilson, gilding all around with griffin handles, height 58.5cm. This vase was rescued from a building about to be demolished earlier last century. It bears the Works Chicago Fair backstamp, indicating that this was exhibited at the expo of 1893. Indeed, some last minute research has uncovered what we believe to be a photograph of this actual vase, showing alongside the famous Diana Vase at the Chigo exhibition, the photo recently exhibited at Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts in 2018.
