Dravite var. Chrome Merelani Hills, Lelatema Mts, Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, Tanzania "A fairly well formed dark green gemmy tourmaline crystal of about 2.5 cm. Bought the specimen from Wayne Leicht. The scale under the specimen is an inch with a rule at one cm." Africa never ceases to amaze gem, and gem crystal, collectors with the never-ending cascade of different Tourmalines that appear, seemingly, from out of nowhere. A case in point are these deep green, equant crystals of Dravite, liberally endowed with enough Chromium to plate the bumper on your '54 Studebaker. The equant habit could fool noobs into thinking it to be a member of the Garnet family. Do not make this mistake, or humiliation will land on you with both feet, delivered by some supercilious 'know it all' with a burning need for self-aggrandizement. This is one extremely gemmy thumbnail suitable for wearing out on St. Patrick's Day. Overall Measurements: 1.0 x 0.8 x 0.5 inches (2.5 x 2.0 x 1.2 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Bought from Kristalle (Wayne & Dona Leicht) [RHC #4900, acquired 1987] MinID EN7-61Q [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
