Dronino Meteorite Iron, ungrouped Ryazanskaya oblast', Russia - (54° 44' 48"N, 41° 25' 18"E) Found: July 2000 This Dronino Meteorite wedge is a complete individual specimen of the ungrouped Iron structurally classified as an ataxite. The variety, found in Russia, in 2000, was, amazingly, discovered by a local Moscow resident on his way home from collecting mushrooms. This loosely triangular specimen is grayish-silver in coloration and highly textural over its prominent metallic surfaces. This rock tapers to a sharp ridge at the top and on the sides as a flat bottom, which allows it to rest securely without a base. Weighing a substantial 671 grams, the rugged mass is solid and heavy. Dronino, even without being cut and polished, displays unique and complex features. Somehow, the metal even looks "organic."
