Ex. private collection - Menen - Belgium circa 1920-1930 Size: 20x5x5cm, Weight: 0,12kg Very rare little Yaka drum in excellent condition, dark hard wood with brown patina, sounds very clear Drum with little stick… The extremity of the stick was carved with the same effigy than the drum (see photo) Trace of magical charge inside the drum (see photo) The Yaka are a homogenous, disciplined, hard-working and warlike people who occupy the Kwango plateaus in the south-west of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. On a customary level, the Yaka Kingdom is a patriarchal monarchy headed by kiamfu whose power ends only with its death. He is assisted by several collaborators who are customary chiefs with fiefs to govern and who are sometimes of the same lineage as him.
