The pheasants painted here by Grant were almost certainly shot by Clive Bell, who took up shooting to fill the table at Charleston throughout the war years.
Alastair Reid was a Bafta and Emmy winning director of television drama, known for titles such as Tales of the City and Traffik, and his wife Jane was a gifted set-designer.
