Two Figures at a Game Board and Smoking by Candlelight
Unsigned, inscribed "Gerard H..." in pencil on the reverse.
Oil on panel, 7 3/4 x 6 5/8 in. (19.8 x 16.0 cm), unframed.
Condition: Stable craquelure, scattered very minor abrasions, possible masking varnish.
Estimate $800-1,200
There are two different patterns of craquelure - one following the fine grain of the panel and the other slightly broader in pattern as expected in drying paint. The craquelure is stable. Frame abrasions as noted above around the perimeter. The work is difficult to photograph in natural light due to varnish reflections.
Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging. Any condition statement given, as a courtesy to a client, is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact. Skinner shall have no responsibility for any error or omission.
