oil on oak panel
unframed: 35 x 25 cm.; 13¾ x 9⅞ in.
framed: 61 x 51 cm.; 24 x 20⅛ in.

Condition Report:
The panel is flat and even, providing a stable support to the paint surface. There is minor frame rubbing to some of the extremities of the panel. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a layer of opaque varnish and some small spots of retouching to the extremities and a few small spots in the background (within the open window).

Catalogue Note:
This painting is after a known composition by Gerard Dou, dated 1656 and owned by Lord Ashburton before it was destroyed by fire in 1873 at Bath House, London. 1
