Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and by a letter of transmittal from White House Secretary Ann Whitman, dated September 25, 1956, in part: "The President asked me to thank you for your very thoughtful letter. Even though you aren't yet old enough to vote, it is encouraging to both him and the Vice President to know that young Americans like yourself are taking such a keen interest in government affairs."
