Dzi bead ‘Five Eyes’, Liao dynasty
A ritual bead crafted from black agate with ivory-coloured decoration and a soft patina. It has a spindle-shaped body with a longitudinal hole, decorated with five circular eyes accompanied by linear and wavy bands. Traditionally, this design symbolises the blessing and protection coming from the five cardinal directions. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
