Inscription: At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "Boulonnois fc.", "ANALDUX CARD. DOSSATUS/Arnaud d'Ossat Cardinal".
Date: 17th century
Description: Portrait of the French diplomat, scribe and later cardinal Arnaud D'OSSAT in bust and robe of office. From "Academie des Arts et des Sciences, 2nd vol., 1682. In 1599 the sitter was appointed cardinal at the request of the French King Henry IV of Navarre. With a stern and determined gaze, the sitter looks towards the viewer, suggesting his determination as a cardinal.
