Antique silver-plated bronze figural sculpture by ?mile-Coriolan-Hippolyte Guillemin (1841-1907), renowned 19th-century French sculptor celebrated for finely detailed historical, Orientalist and figural works. Depicts a standing gentleman in elabora te period costume wearing a cap, draped cape, decorative chain and medallions, fitted trousers and tall boots, holding a slender cane or sword. Raised on a substantial stepped circular bronze base. Signed "Guillemin" and bearing an "L.M." foundry/wor kshop mark associated with Guillemin casts. The silver-plated surface displays an attractive aged patina with oxidation and areas of wear revealing the bronze beneath. Substantial approximate weight of 355 grams.
