E.A.Leuteritz - Meissen - Sumptuous Ceremonial Plate (29,5 cm) - "Red Rose" - Plate - Hand Painted Porcelain
Magnificent antique Meissen porcelain cabinet plate, marvelous hand painted, gold trimmed, icon model of the great designer Ernst August Leuteritz (1818 - 1893) for Meissen Porzellan Manufaktur, in excellent condition.
The plate feature a central large polychrome “Red Rose”motif, within a shaped and moulded gilded rim, set with three further sets of buds of roses and gilt rocaille cartouches, on a white ground.
Floral painting on porcelain has a long tradition at the Meissen manufactory that has grown continually throughout the ages and continues on to this day.
Based on the still life paintings of the Old Masters, roses began to appear as a motif in porcelain painting in 1740. Initially in bouquet form, the rose became popular as a single motif in the following Marcolini period. The graceful “MEISSEN Rose” was developed from these paintings in the Biedermeier period.
It is in excellent condition, some minor loses of gold, barely noticeable, marked with Meissen blue crossed swords mark of the period, two grinding lines, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
