EARLIEST KNOWN INGOING MAILS: A pair inc. the earliest known ingoing letter (stains and some splitting at folds) 10 Aug. 1787 Penryn to Mrs Phillips, Scilly to be left at Mr Colensos Penzance with light strike of PENRYN hs (W&J CO227), Mr Colensos assumed to be the agent for the mails to the Scillies plus third earliest recorded ingoing letter 24 Aug. 1790 to Mrs Phillips but this to be left at Mr Lavers Penzance with v.fine PENRYN hs (CO227) and rated with bold ms "4".
