EARLY COLT FAT GRIP 1878 SHERIFF REVOLVER

SERIAL 9771. BARREL 4". CALIBER 45 COLT. MADE IN 1883. The sheriff or store keeper model was made without the lanyard ring, no ejector housing and features the early fat grip and no caliber stamp on barrel rather it is stamped on front left trigger bow. The barrel features the two line address. Gun has factory nickel finish with Colt gutta percha grips. The cylinder indexes properly but there is a bit of wiggle room. The rifling is sharp but does have some black powder residue. Grips are excellent with light wear. Gun retains about half the original nickel finish with balance a soft dull gray patina. Comes with an old holster. Neat old large bore hide out western gun. Scarce variation. ANTIQUE
