EARLY FRENCH GORDON-BENNET RACE COURSE GAME.
Comes in original box. Wood and cardboard with beautiful paper label of car riding on dirt road. Box marked "La Course de la Coupe", "Gordon-Bennet", "Nouveau Jeu", and "de Societe". Some creasing to corners of lid. Elaborate game with circular and straight wood and cardboard pieces and game board, also wooden scenery boards. There are some paper French flags which look like they are replacements. Comes with a German penny toy Gordon-Bennet bonnet-type racecar marked "Gesch". This car must have been made this way just for this game as it has an unusual pull-wire underneath driver's side and is weighted on the bottom, probably to make it go down the track faster. The top bonnet is probably a hand-painted replacement. Car is marked "948" on both sides. Condition: (Very Good - Excellent). Dimensions: Box: 23 - 1/2" x 12 - 1/2" x 3 - 1/2".
