circa 1790-1810, impressed BIRCH, depicting a satyr playing the pipes as a young satyr dances beneath a fruiting tree, inscribed Cheiron 1782, within a serrated frame, l: 11 5/8 x w: 9 1/4 in.

Edmund John Birch is recorded as a potter active in two locations in Hanley, Staffordshire, circa 1796-1814.
