[ translate ]

EDWARD BAWDEN, R.A.
1903-1989
AN ENGLISH CHURCH INTERIOR

signed
pencil and watercolour on paper
25 by 31.5cm.; 10 by 11¼in.

Condition Report:
The sheet appears to be sound. The sheet is secured to the mount with two adhesive tabs in the upper corners. The edges of the sheet are slightly unevenly cut. There is some slight rounding to the extreme corners. There are old adhesive tabs in the lower corners of the sheet, and there is some further historic evidence of adhesive tabs along the upper edge, which have seemingly preserved the sheet from further staining. There is evidence of staining in line with the window of the mount none of which is visible in the present mount. There is staining to the rest of the sheet with spots of foxing. There is a small tear at the centre of the upper edge. There are a couple of scuffs to the image, which have resulted in some very minor damage to the sheet and some loss of pigment.

The sheet is window mounted and held behind glass in a simple wooden frame.
