EDWARD VIII: (1894-1972) King of the United Kingdom January - December 1936. Later Duke of Windsor. A good vintage signed 5 x 7 photograph of the young Prince of Wales in a formal head and shoulders pose. Photograph by Vandyk of London and bearing their blind embossed studio stamp to the lower left corner of the mount. Signed (´Edward P´) by the Prince in bold black fountain pen ink to the lower photographer´s mount and dated 1919 in his hand. VG

Carl Vandyk (1851-1931) German-born British portrait photographer whose subjects included various members of the British Royal family. Carl's son Herbert Vandyk (1879–1943) took over the family business in 1913 after studying in London, Berlin and Paris and went on to accumulate 22 Royal Warrants.
