EDWARDS of Halifax binding.
Book of Common Prayer and Psalter, 1772, 12mo, full vellum painted en grisaille with a female classical figure in the manner of Angelica Kuaffman to the front board, abbey ruins to the rear board, within patterned borders, all typical of Edwards of Halifax, the spine a little faded, all edges gilt. Note: for a near identical front cover binding by Edwards of Halifax, see Christie's sale 30 Nov. 2001, lot 274.Condition Report spine a little faded. gatherings C & D of Psalms at end are misbound together. A couple of lower corners of leaves are torn away or missing, but no loss of text. See images.
