EGYPTIAN FUNERARY CONE

Description: Egyptian funerary cone. Pinkish mixture, modeled by hand and impression. Large funeral cone decorated on the base with a kneeling male figure with arms raised in an act of worship and three columns of hieroglyphic inscription: Adoring Ra when he stands by the scribe of the Offerings of Amun, Amenhotpe, justified. The funerary cones have on the base the name of the deceased, sometimes accompanied by prayers or images. Their use, limited almost exclusively to the necropolises of Thebes, is not known with certainty: they are probably witnesses of family visits to the deceased , who each time left a cone, to form real heaps at the entrance of the tomb . | Egypt. 18th Dynasty. 1567-1320 B.C.

Condition: Surface wear but piece intact. Excellent condition. Notes: The piece includes authenticity certificate.
