EICKE THEODOR: (1892-1943) German SS-Obergruppenfuhrer of World War II, Knight's Cross winner with Oak Leaves. Eicke was one of the key figures in the development of Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust and served as the second commandant of Dachau concentration camp 1933-34. T.L.S., Eicke, one page, 4to, Berlin, 13th March 1938, to SS-Gruppenfuhrer Richard Hildebrandt, on the printed stationery of the Leader of the SS Death's Head Units, in German. Eicke writes, in full, 'On your birthday today I am expressing my sincerest good wishes. All the best in this coming year of life, above all, good health and success in your work for the SS'. With an orange indelible pencil annotation, most likely his initials, in the hand of Hildebrandt to the upper right corner. A letter of good association.
