EMBROIDERED LANDSCAPE WALL HANGING BY NISHIMURA SOZAEMON (1855-1935)
An embroidered wall hanging designed and signed by Nishimura Sozaemon (1855-1935), late 19th/early 20th century. Finely worked and handwoven with silk threads of iridescent gold, green, gray, brown, green, white and black depicting a mountain waterfall amidst pine trees in a forest. Signed lower right bottom in red threads.
Dimensions: Frame: 71 x 63 in. (180.3 x 160 cm.)
Condition: Excellent condition and in original frame and glass. Excellent quality. Some scattered tiny debris under the frame (appears that it was never opened), possibly insect parts, but there is no evidence of insect damage. Possible slight fading. Sozaemon was the designer of this piece, but not the weaver.
