Born into a legendary six-generation lineage of iconographers and painters, he is the eldest son of the master painter Paul Guiragossian. His childhood was deeply shaped by his grandmother’s harrowing first-hand accounts of surviving the Armenian Genocide, instilling an early sense of drama and urgency in his creative consciousness. After studying fine arts at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he became a professor in Beirut, founded the contemporary art space and publishing house EMMAGOSS, and curated his family's museum legacy. Today, he lives and works between Lebanon and Germany. Guiragossian’s work uses a highly emotive figurative style to explore personal trauma, collective history, and human resilience. His canvases frequently feature simplified, silhouetted human figures and majestic horses that lean into and intertwine with one another, symbolising a vital need for mutual support, solace, and survival. Balancing structural turbulence with a vibrant, pulsating colour palette, Guiragossian transforms historical tragedy into a universal celebration of the enduring human spirit.UNTITLED signed Emmanuel Guiragossian lower right oil on canvas 79.9 x 59.8cm (86.9 x 67.1cm framed) Property from a Private Collection, London Provenance Acquired in the early 1980's Thence by descent to the present owner Emmanuel Guiragossian is a celebrated Lebanese-German painter, sculptor, and multi-disciplinary artist of Armenian descent.
