ENGLISH AND OTHER STERLING / SILVER AND GLASS DECANTERS, LOT OF FOUR PAIRS, colorless, comprising a pair of hourglass-form decanters with English sterling mounted collared rims by Asprey & Co., Ltd. of Birmingham having 1909 date marks, lacking stoppers; a pair with handles and German 0.800 silver mounted rims/spouts by Breidenstein & Renaud of Frankfurt, topped by unmarked, possibly original, silver stoppers; a pair of engraved decanters with one having wheat motifs and the other with thistles, including two sterling-topped stoppers by Watson Co. of Attleboro, MA with corks and a pair of sterling bottle tickets with one engraved "RYE" and the other "SCOTCH"; and a pair of decanters having unmarked silver overlay with one bottle featuring "Gin" and the other "Rye", having overlay to rims and probably original stoppers. Most pieces marked. Total weight of bottle tickets: 0.965 ozt. Late 19th/first half 20th century. 8 1/4" to 12 1/2" HOA.
Condition Report: Good to very good overall condition with silver having some wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections including nicks and/or one or a few dents; one unmarked silver stopper does not fit properly in spout, probably because flange is slightly bent / out of round; Watson stoppers with cork having wear and discoloration, rusting to metal screws to end of extension, one having crack to cork; "Rye" silver-overlay decanter with a crack off of neck, remainder glass otherwise undamaged with minor wear and minor to moderate residue to interior.
