ENGLISH STONEWARE FIGURAL MONEY BANK / BOX, featuring a mother hen and 11 chicks surrounding a central cut-out cage containing another chicken, the roof with six chicks and six supports topped with a large chicken finial, box stamped "SUSAN ALICE SLATER / AGED 8 YEARS / BARNOLDSWICK", coin slot to underside. Circa 1890.
Condition: Very good overall condition, losses to four birds around shoulder, finial with one reattached wing.
Size: 11 1/2" H, 3" D base.
Provenance: Catalogue Note: Susan Alice Slater (1876-1966) was born to Edward and Mary Slater of Barnoldswick, Yorkshire, England. She married Herbert W. Widgery.
