Mahogany and mahogany veneer case. Bonnet's broken arch pediment with brass rosettes at end of scrolls and line inlay along perimeter. Arched glazed dial door flanked by brass-capped full fluted columns. Arched glazed panels at sides of bonnet. Tombstone-shaped pendulum door with repetitive line inlay along perimeter. Three-quarter columns at sides of trunk. Tall base panel on shaped bracket feet. Brass Roman numeral dial with subsidiary seconds and calendar dials. Decoration of floral designs at corners and a bird with a "Tempus Fugit" (time flies) banner in lunette. Signed on face "J.M. Read Helston". Height 81". Width 18.5". Depth 9.5".
